Abstract

HIV/AIDS infection is becoming more widespread all over the world as well as our country. It is important to know the clinical findings at all levels. Chronic enlargement in parotid glands is among the findings of HIV/AIDS infection in children. Chronic parotitis is frequently reported in HIV infection and is more common in children. HIV/AIDS disease is increasingly being reported in recent years in Turkey, although it has not reached great numbers yet. Every pediatric case diagnosed as HIV infection indicates another infected but unknown family member. Any child suffering from chronic or recurrent parotitis should be investigated for HIV infection. In this article, a child with HIV parotitis having long-lasting swelling of parotid glands and fever but no known HIV infection in family members was presented in the light of current literature.
