Abstract
Bulgular: Push out testinde, yalnızca D grubunda apikal seviyede istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede düşük push-out dayanımı görüldü (p=0.023).
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of different filling techniques on the penetration and bond strength of AH Plus,an epoxy resin-based root canal sealer, and Guttaflow Bioseal, a new bioceramic- based root canal sealer, into root canal dentin. Material and Methods: A total of 100 single root and single canal, permanent, mandibular premolar teeth were used for the study. The teeth were randomly allocated into 4 groups with 25 teeth in each group. All specimens were prepared with the VDW Rotate rotary system at an apical magnification of #40. To remove the smear layer, 2ml irrigation was performed with 5.25% NaOCl and 17% EDTA solutions followed by final irrigation with saline. Groups: Group A: Cold lateral compaction filling method with Guttaflow BioSeal (n:25) Group B: Warm vertical filling method with GuttaFlow BioSeal (n:25) Group C: Cold lateral compaction filling method with AH Plus (n:25) Group D: Warm vertical filling method with AH Plus (n:25) After the root canal fillings were completed, the teeth were kept in a humid environment for one week. Then, 2 mm horizontal sections were taken from the coronal, middle and apical third and the bond strength of the root canal sealers to the root dentin was evaluated by push-out method using Universal test device. The number of samples was set as 10 for each group. Confocal scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the dentinal tubule penetration of root canal sealers. Transversal sections were taken from the coronal, middle and apical third. The number of samples for each group was set as 15. Results: In the push-out test, only group D showed a statistically significant lower push-out strength at the apical level (p=0.023). No significant difference was found at apical, middle and coronal levels in all other groups. In the maximum penetration test, much lower penetration was measured at the apical level than at the middle and coronal levels for all groups. Group C was found to have the highest maximum penetration. In the mean penetration test, a significant difference was found between the groups only at the coronal level (p=0.002). Group A was found to have a statistically significantly higher mean penetration value than groups B and D. Conclusion: The use of different root canal sealants with different filling techniques does not affect the bond strength of the sealants but affects the penetration depth. The maximum penetration depth was found to be the highest in the cold lateral compaction filling method with AH Plus. The highest mean penetration value was found in the cold lateral compaction filling method with GF.
