Abstract
This study was carried out cross-sectionally to determine the effect of contraceptive methods on sexual function of individuals. The study has been made between 350 married women who applied polyclinic of gynecology and 150 men who applied ophthalmology clinic at one of the Research Hospital European side of Istanbul city. Inputs of this study have been collected by using the following methods; Introductory information form, Female Sexual Function Scale (FSFI), International electrical function form (IIEF). Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation as well as Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis tests have been used at evaluation stage of these inputs. The %45.7 percentage of the women who have participated the study was between 29-30 years old ages, %75,4 primary and secondary school degree, the %56,7 percentage of the men who have participated the study was between 29-39 years old ages, %68,6 primary and secondary school degree. The average score of sexual function scale for women was 18,28±3,87, sexual dysfunction has been detected among %89,7 percent of the women. The average mean score of the Men's International Erectile Function Form was 61,40 ±13,38 ,according to mean avearege of the score , No sexual dysfunction has been detected among the mens. The most used contraceptives method with percent of %29,4 among the women in at least 3 months is withdrawall,and it is condom among the men with the percent of %38.7. The %82,3 percent of the women, and %83,3 of the men have declered that contraceptives methods that they have been using influenced positively their sexual lifes.The sexual arousal state of the women who have been using withdrawall method was seen higher than those who have been using monthly needle. The sexual desire among the men who have been using condom was seen higher that those who have been using withdrawall and their wifes have been using mini pills.More sexual desire, more sexual arousal,and less painfull sexual intercourse was seen among the woman who have been using modern methods compared with tradational methods.The more sexual desire was seen among the men who have been using traditional methods xv compared with modern methods. Among the women It was resulted that age, educational status, partner education, working status,family structure , the place long lived,communication with parner, and frequency of sexual intercouse are affecting sexual functions. Among the men it was resulted that,partner education, communication with partner, frequency of sexual intercouse, talking sexuality with partner,the contraceptive method used, and satisfaction with the contraceptive method are effecting sexual functions.
