dc.description.abstract | INTRODUCTION: Oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) is the 16th most common cancer in world. We aimed to draw attention to OSCC, the most common oral cancer, and importance of its early-diagnosis. CASE DESCRIPTION: Case-1:68-year-old female patient applied with painful-hemorrhagic area in left retromolar region. Clinically, the surface of left molar region is characterized by necrosis; on the floor of left mouth is raised surface, hard on palpation, painful lymphodenopathy on palpation were observed in left neck level IIA, III. No radiological findings were found. Case-2:56-year-old male patient was referred with complaint of pain, non-healing region of right maxillary anterior following tooth extraction. Clinically; necrotic, painful lesion area involving the right maxilla anterior-premolar-molar region was observed. Radiologically, a radiolucent area with irregular borders, extending to the maxillary sinus was observed. Case-3:53-year-old male patient applied with painful lesions in right mandibular posterior-retromolar region. Clinically, extra-intraoral swelling, irregular lesions and bleeding in the soft tissue were observed. A multilocular radiolucent lesion area extending from the angulus to ramus was observed on panoramic radiograph. DISCUSSION: The prognosis of OSCC is related to comprehensive assesment. We prefer Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized-Tomography to consider whole body in the name of metastasis. The appropriate treatment should be chosen by considering presence of metastasis, clear surgical margins and nodes. In first and second cases treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgical operation while the third case treated with targeted therapy, radiotherapy and surgical operation.CONCLUSION/CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Early-diagnosis of OSCC, detailed clinical examination and radiological imaging are important. The appropriate treatment following this plays vital role in survival. | |
