Publication Metadata only Red-green-blue analysis of nasal mucosa discolouration in allergic rhinitis.(2020-04-02T00:00:00Z) Toprak, A; Degirmenci, Nazan; Dogan, R; Senturk, E; Tugrul, S; Ozturan, O; DEĞİRMENCİ, NAZAN; TUĞRUL, SELAHATTİN; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; TOPRAK, ALİ; ÖZTURAN, ORHANObjective To evaluate the colour values of nasal mucosa for the purpose of presenting an objective parameter of allergic rhinitis. Methods Seventy-three patients with allergic rhinitis (allergy group) and 73 normal healthy individuals (control group) were included in the study. Endoscopic examinations were conducted, and endoscopic photographs of the septum and both inferior turbinates were taken. The Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 software program was used to measure the numerical values of red-green-blue (RGB) colour components in the endoscopic photographs of nasal mucosa. Results The G and B values were significantly higher in the allergy group compared to the control group (both p < 0.05). Cumulative R, G and B values of all measurement points were significantly higher in the allergy group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion Nasal mucosa discolouration can be measured objectively with RGB analysis to aid the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis.Publication Metadata only Serum and tonsil tissue melatonin levels o fpatients with chronic tonsillitis(2019-03-01) ŞENTÜRK, EROL; YILDIRIM, YAVUZ SELİM; ÇALIM, ÖMER FARUK; YENİGÜN, ALPER; Ozturan, Orhan; Kepekçi Tekkeli, Şerife Evrim; Kızıltaş, Mustafa Volkan; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; ÇALIM, ÖMER FARUK; YENİGÜN, ALPERObjectives: This study aims to compare the serum, tonsil surface epithelial tissue and parenchyma levels of melatonin in children who underwent tonsillectomy due to recurrent tonsillitis. Patients and Methods: The study included 33 pediatric patients (17 males, 16 females; mean age 7.3 years; range, 3 to 10 years) scheduled for tonsillectomy surgery. Five milliliter venous blood samples and 25 g of two different types of tonsil tissues, parenchyma and capsule were collected from the patients and stored. High performance liquid chromatography was used for the determination of melatonin in plasma and tissue samples. Results: The tonsil surface tissue levels of melatonin were lower than the simultaneous plasma levels of melatonin (p<0.0135). The plasma levels of melatonin were higher than the simultaneous tonsil parenchyma tissue levels of melatonin (p<0.016). The tonsil surface tissue levels of melatonin were lower than the simultaneous tonsil parenchyma tissue levels of melatonin (p<0.002). Conclusion: The plasma concentrations of melatonin and tonsil surface epithelial tissue and parenchyma concentrations of melatonin in children with chronic tonsillitis were low. According to this finding, we may recommend serum levels of melatonin to be checked in patients indicated for tonsillectomyPublication Metadata only A new method in eardrum perforation repair: Accordion myringoplasty technique(2020-09-01T00:00:00Z) Aksoy, Fadlullah; YENİGÜN, Alper; ŞENTÜRK, Erol; DOĞAN, Remzi; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; AKSOY, FADLULLAH; YENİGÜN, ALPER; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; DOĞAN, REMZI; ÖZTURAN, ORHANPublication Metadata only Temporal Scalp Thickness, Body Mass Index, and Suprafascial Placement of Receiver Coil of the Cochlear Implant.(2017-11-01) SENTURK, EROL; Ozturan, ORHAN; EREN, SABRİ BAKİ; AKSOY, FEYZA MÜBERRA; YENIGUN, A; ÇALıM, ÖMER FARUK; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; YENİGÜN, ALPER; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; ÇALIM, ÖMER FARUK; AKSOY, FADLULLAH; EREN, SABRİ BAKİPublication Metadata only Total antioxidant status and oxidative stress in recurrent aphthous stomatitis(2016-03-01) TUGRUL, Selahattin; Kocyigit, ABDÜRRAHİM; Dogan, REMZİ; Eren, SABRİ BAKİ; SENTURK, EROL; Ozturan, ORHAN; OZAR, Omer Faruk; KOÇYİĞİT, ABDÜRRAHİM; DOĞAN, REMZI; EREN, SABRİ BAKİ; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; ÖZER, ÖMER FARUKBackgroundRecurrent aphthous stomatitis is an idiopathic, chronic, recurrent inflammatory disease of the oral mucosa. It is thought that oxidative stress caused by systemic inflammation plays a basic role in the etiopathogenesis of recurrent aphthous stomatitis. The aim of this study is to review oxidative status and DNA damage in recurrent aphthous stomatitis.Publication Metadata only The Effect of Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block on the Postoperative Pain in Patients Undergoing Septorhinoplasty.(2020-02-22T00:00:00Z) Ozdem, A; Degirmenci, Nazan; Sen, P; Uysal, H; Turkoz, A; Ozturan, O; DEĞİRMENCİ, NAZAN; ÖZDEM, ABDULLAH; UYSAL, HARUN; ŞEN, PELİN; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; TÜRKÖZ, AYDAObjectives:Publication Metadata only Nasal care in intensive care unit patients(2018-02-01) Ozturan, ORHAN; Senturk, EROL; IRAZ, Meryem; CEYLAN, AYŞE NUR; Idin, Kadir; Dogan, REMZİ; Yildirim, YAVUZ SELİM; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; CEYLAN, AYŞE NUR; DOĞAN, REMZI; YILDIRIM, YAVUZ SELİMPurpose: The aim of this study was to investigate nasal hygiene in intensive care patients and improve patient care using isotonic saline nasal spray.Publication Metadata only Effect of allergic rhinitis on the outcomes of diode laser dacryocystorhinostomy.(2021-06-19T00:00:00Z) Senturk, Erol; Doğan, Remzi; Yenigun, Alper; Calim, Omer Faruk; Ozturan, Orhan; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; DOĞAN, REMZI; YENİGÜN, ALPER; EREN, SABRİ BAKİ; ÖZTURAN, ORHANPublication Metadata only Efficacy of nasal corticosteroid in preventing regrowth after adenoidectomy(2016-12-01) TUGRUL, Selahattin; Yildirim, YAVUZ SELİM; SENTURK, EROL; Eren, SABRİ BAKİ; Dogan, REMZİ; Ozturan, ORHAN; YILDIRIM, YAVUZ SELİM; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; EREN, SABRİ BAKİ; DOĞAN, REMZI; TUĞRUL, SELAHATTİN; ÖZTURAN, ORHANObjective: One of the most frequent reasons of nasal obstruction and sleep apnea in pediatrics is adenoid hypertrophy. Remaining adenoid tissue can reoccur following hypertrophied adenoid removal and a second operation may be needed. Nasal corticosteroids are utilized in order to reduce adenoid hypertrophy and eliminate adenoidectomy operation. The purpose of our study is to assess the effect of nasal corticosteroid administration after adenoidectomy on adenoid regrowth and symptom scores.Publication Metadata only Assessment of the effectiveness of cyclosporine nasal spray in an animal model of allergic rhinitis(2018-01-01) Senturk, EROL; Yildirim, YAVUZ SELİM; Dogan, REMZİ; Ozturan, ORHAN; Guler, ERAY METİN; AYDIN, Mehmet Serif; Kocyigit, ABDÜRRAHİM; Esrefoglu, MUKADDES; Kocak, Ilker; ŞENTÜRK, EROL; YILDIRIM, YAVUZ SELİM; DOĞAN, REMZI; ÖZTURAN, ORHAN; GÜLER, ERAY METİN; KOÇYİĞİT, ABDÜRRAHİM; EŞREFOĞLU, MUKADDESThe aim of this study is to show if cyclosporine has an antiallergic role in a rat model of ovalbumin-induced allergic rhinitis. The 54 rats were divided into six equal groups. The first group was a negative control group without induced allergic rhinitis; the second group a positive control with induced allergic rhinitis not receiving treatment. The remaining four groups, after induction of allergic rhinitis, received intranasal cyclosporine treatment in doses of 0.05, 0.1, or 0.2% or nasal steroid treatment. In the biochemical examination, on the surface of the tissue tumor necrosis factor (TNF) interferon (IFN), interleukin (IL)-5, IL-13, as well as IL-2, IL-4, IL-17A, and IgE were studied. Histologically, ciliary loss, increase of goblet cells, vascular congestion, and the degree of eosinophil infiltration were rated. In all treatment groups, on average, a significant reduction in all histological and biochemical values was found compared to the positive control group. Comparing each of the three cyclosporine-using groups with the group of nasal corticosteroid did not show any significant difference in the average scores. Cyclosporine nasal drops are effective to be used in an animal model of experimental allergic rhinitis without systemic effects.
