AMAÇ 3: SAĞLIKLI BİREYLER
Çocuk ölüm oranlarının azaltılması, anne sağlığının iyileştirilmesi, HIV/AIDS, sıtma ve diğer hastalıklar ile mücadelede büyük aşama kaydetmiş durumdayız. 1990 yılından bu yana, önlenebilir çocuk ölümlerinde dünya genelinde %50’yi aşan azalma olmuştur. Anne ölümleri de dünya genelinde %45 azalmıştır. 2000 ile 2013 arasında HIV/AIDS bulaşma oranı %30 azalmış, 6,2 milyonu aşkın insan sıtmadan kurtarılmıştır.
Bu ölümler; önleme ve tedavi, eğitim, aşı kampanyaları, cinsel ve üreme sağlığı hizmetleri vasıtasıyla önlenebilir. Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Amaçları; AIDS, verem, sıtma ve diğer bulaşıcı hastalık salgınlarını 2030 yılına kadar ortadan kaldırmaya yönelik cesur bir taahhüttür. Amaç, herkesin genel sağlık hizmeti, güvenli ve erişilebilir ilaç ve aşıya kavuşmasını sağlamaktır. Aşı araştırma ve geliştirmelerinin desteklenmesi, bu sürecin vazgeçilmez bir parçasıdır.

Onur; MAYADAĞLI, ALPASLANRadiotherapy (RT) of the thorax can damage the pericardium, myocardium, heart valves, and coronary vessels, with the pericardium being the most frequently damaged. The objectives of this study were to evaluate RT-induced left ventricular dysfunction and myocardial injury by measuring cardiac biomarkers, troponin I (TnI) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), as well as determin cardiotoxicity and early signs of cardiovascular dysfunction using strain rate imaging (SRI) prior to and following RT. This study included 35 patients diagnosed with thoracic malignancy between January 2011 and October 2013. Of the 35 patients, 22 had left-sided lung cancer and 13 had left-sided breast cancer. SRI was performed and TnI and BNP levels were measured prior to and following RT. A total radiation dose of 40-60 Gy (mean, 54.9 +/- 8.9 Gy) was applied in lung cancer patients and 50-60 Gy (mean, 51.6 +/- 4.9 Gy) was applied in breast cancer patients. No significant difference was observed in TnI or BNP levels prior to and one month following RT. The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) did not differ prior to or after the first month of RT. However, lower right ventricular strain (RVS) and left ventricular strain (LVS) SRI values were detected within the first month following RT. The physical properties of the prepared nanocomposite and drug loaded nanocomposite were characterized using different techniques. The drug loading and releasing behavior of the magnetic nanocarrier was investigated and the drug-loaded nanoparticles exhibited a sustained release of drug without any burst release phenomenon. Furthermore, 5-FU loaded MZNC were evaluated for its biological characteristics. The functional 5-FU-MZNC has been triggered intra-cellular release of the cancer therapeutic agent 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Cytotoxic effects of 5-FU loaded MZNC on human gastric carcinoma (AGS) cells were determined by real time cell analysis and colorimetric WST-1 cell viability assay. Apoptosis of cells was further investigated by Annexin-V staining which indicates the loss of cell membrane integrity. According to our results, 5-FU-MZNC showed a concentration-dependent cell proliferation inhibitory function against AGS cells. Morphologic and apoptotic images were consistent with the cytotoxicity results. In conclusion, 5-FU loaded MZNC efficiently inhibit the proliferation of AGS cells in vitro through apoptotic mechanisms, and may be a beneficial agent against cancer, however further animal study is still required.
