Although peritonitis is bacterial in 80% of cases, increasing rate of fungal peritonitis has been reported by many studies in recent years. While Candida species (mainly C. parapsilosis, C. albicans and C. tropicalis) are responsible for 70% of cases, other species (Trichosporon, Penicillium, Aspergillus and Acremonium) are very rarely seen. C. guilliermondii has been reported as the cause of peritonitis in PD patients in a few cases. Herein, we present a PD patient with peritonitis due to C. guilliermondii. We aimed to emphasize that non-albicans Candida species should be remembered in PD patients with peritonitis.Publication Metadata only Evaluation of carotis intima media thicknesses in varying degrees of renal failure Böbrek Yetersizliǧinin Farkli Evrelerinde Karotis Intima Media Kalinliklarinin Deǧerlendirilmesi(2012-10-05) Gürsu, MELTEM; Aydın, Zeki; UZUN, Sami; KARADAG, Serhat; OGULLAR, Sabri; KIRIS, Adem; SUMNU, Abdullah; tatlı, Emel; GÜRSU, Riza Umar; OZTURK, Savaş; Kazancioǧlu, RÜMEYZA; GÜRSU, MELTEM; KAZANCIOĞLU, RÜMEYZAPublication Metadata only The relationship between ghrelin levels and the presence of helicobacter pylori in the gastric mucosa in uremic patients(2013-10-04) Gürsu, MELTEM; UZUN, Sami; KAYA, Ali Hakan; POTUROGLU, Sule; OZTURK, Savas; Kaya, Burcu; KARADAG, Serhat; Aydın, Zeki; OZKAN, Oktay; BAYSAL, Birol; FEYIZOGLU, Hikmet; Kazancioglu, RÜMEYZA; GÜRSU, MELTEM; KAZANCIOĞLU, RÜMEYZAPublication Metadata only The Main Determinants of Serum Resistin Level in Type 2 Diabetic Patients are Renal Function and Inflammation not Presence of Microvascular Complication, Obesity and Insulin Resistance(2019-04-01T00:00:00Z) Cebeci, Egemen; Cakan, Cengiz; GÜRSU, Meltem; Uzun, Sami; Karadag, Serhat; Koldas, Macit; Calhan, Turan; Helvaci, Serife Aysen; Ozturk, Savas; GÜRSU, MELTEMAim The association of increased resistin levels in chronic kidney disease with diabetic nephropathy has not yet been clarified. These pathogens are associated with two different and severe illnesses; hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome. Although frequently reported in Europe, until now only 12 cases from the western Black Sea region, 2 from Giresun, 1 from Istanbul have been reported in Turkey. In patients presenting with fever, thrombocytopenia and acute kidney injury (AKI), hantavirus infection should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Our aim is to discuss 2 cases presenting with AKI in the light of updated literature information and increase awareness about this disease in our country.Publication Metadata only Causes of Acute Kidney Injury in Pregnancy Other than Thrombotic Microangiopathy and Preeclampsia(2016-02-01) GÜRSU, MELTEM; GÜRSU, MELTEM
