Publication Metadata only The prognostic value of plasma Delta-copeptin levels in patients with isolated traumatic brain injury(2014-06-01T00:00:00Z) Cavus, U. Y.; Yildirim, S.; Gurer, B.; Dibek, K.; Yilmaz, D.; Ozturk, G.; Buyukcam, F.; Sonmez, Ertan; SÖNMEZ, ERTANTraumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the most common causes of death among trauma patients. Earlier prediction of possible poor neurological outcomes, even upon admission to the emergency department, may help to guide treatment. The aim of this prospective study was to assess the predictive value of plasma copeptin levels for early morbidity and mortality in patients with isolated TBI.Publication Open Access Two Self-Stabbing Pneumothorax Cases(2018-07-01T00:00:00Z) Sonmez, Ertan; Ozkan, Abuzer; Gulen, Bedia; Metin, Huseyin; Akdemir, Osman Cemil; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; METİN, HÜSEYİN; AKDEMİR, OSMAN CEMİLSelf-inflicted chest stabbing complicated with tension pneumothorax (TPX) is a rare condition. We report two stabbing cases which were complicated with pneumothorax and were successfully treated.Publication Metadata only Oxidative status and lymphocyte DNA damage in patients with acute pancreatitis and its relationship with severity of acute pancreatitis(2016-01-01) DUR, Ali; KOCAMAN, Orhan; Kocyigit, ABDÜRRAHİM; Turkdogan, Kenan Ahmet; Sonmez, ERTAN; KESKIN, Siddika; YIGIT, Mehmet; Gulen, BEDİA; KILIC, Elif; Uysal, Omer; KOÇYİĞİT, ABDÜRRAHİM; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; GÜLEN, BEDİA; UYSAL, ÖMERBackground/Aims: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a life-threatening disease with a rising incidence. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between oxidative status, lymphocyte deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage, and acute pancreatitis.Publication Metadata only Intestinal obstruction developed due to intestinal intramural hematoma because of warfarin overdose(2015-10-01) GÜLEN, BEDİA; KUCUKDAGLI, OKKES TAHA; BEYDILLI, HALIL; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; SÖĞÜT, ÖZGÜR; SERİNKEN, MUSTAFA; GÜLEN, BEDİA; SÖNMEZ, ERTANPublication Metadata only Isolated Nominal Aphasia: Two Case Reports(2013-01-01) ÇAVUŞ, UMUT YÜCEL; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; AVCI, SEMA; YILDIRIM, SİNAN; BİRCAN, METİN; SÖNMEZ, ERTANPublication Metadata only Efficacy of Prothrombin Complex Concentrates for Oral Anticoagulant Therapy-related Major Hemorrhage(2015-03-01) ÇAVUŞ, Umut Yucel; Yildirim, SİNAN; YURTSEVEN, Aynur; Sonmez, ERTAN; YILDIRIM, SİNAN; SÖNMEZ, ERTANIn patients admitted to accident and emergency departments for anticoagulant use-related major hemorrhage and requiring urgent surgery or life-saving invasive intervention, the international normalized ration (INR) value should be rapidly corrected and bleeding should be controlled. With prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), when used at optimal dose levels, target INR values are achieved within 15 min. In this study, we aimed to discuss the efficacy of the used four-factor PCC in 10 patients who were admitted to the accident and emergency department because of oral anticoagulant use-related major bleeding. Of all the patients to whom PCC treatment was administered, targeted INR levels could not be attained in 2 patients (20%). For our cases with gastrointestinal bleeding, the average baseline INR value was 7.3, while the average INR value after PCC administration was 1.9. For our subdural hematoma cases, the median baseline INR value was 2.5, while the median INR value after PCC administration was 1.3. We believe that PCCs used in eligible patient groups, as in this case series, may provide the desired results at lower doses and that they may be safer with regard to complications.Publication Open Access Relationships Among Markers of Inflammation, Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, and Syntax Severity Score in the Early Phase of Acute Coronary Syndrome(2017-04-01) Dur, Ali; Ismailoglu, Ziya; Ismailova, Medine; Akbay, Dursun; UYSAL, ÖMER; METİN, HÜSEYİN; GÜLEN, BEDİA; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; UYSAL, ÖMER; METİN, HÜSEYİN; GÜLEN, BEDİA; SÖNMEZ, ERTANObjective: The aim of the present study was to examine a possible association between inflammation, as indicated by High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (HsCRP) and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and the complexity and severity of coronary artery disease assessed using syntax severity score (SSS) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).Publication Metadata only Effect of harmless acute pancreatitis score, red cell distribution width and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio on the mortality of patients with nontraumatic acute pancreatitis at the emergency department(2015-01-01T00:00:00Z) Gulen, Bedia; Sonmez, Ertan; Yaylaci, Serpil; Serinken, Mustafa; Eken, Cenker; Dur, Ali; Turkdogan, Figen Tunali; Sogut, Ozgur; SÖNMEZ, ERTANBACKGROUND: Harmless acute pancreatitis score (HAPS), neutrophile/lymphocyte ratio and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) are used to determine the early prognosis of patients diagnosed with nontraumatic acute pancreatitis in the emergency department (ED).Publication Metadata only Retrospective Analysis of the Patients Treated in the Emergency Intensive Care Unit of a University Hospital for a Year(2015-09-01T00:00:00Z) Sonmez, Ertan; Dur, Ali; Gulen, Bedia; Turkdogan, Kenan Ahmet; Civelek, Cemil; Sogut, Ozgur; Yigit, Mehmet; Ozkan, Abuzer; SÖNMEZ, ERTAN; GÜLEN, BEDİAAim: Failure in hospitalization of intensive care unit (ICU) patients, directly affect the emergency department processing and the clinics of the patients negatively.
