The subjects of this study are the family members of drug abusers admitted to In a private psychiatric hospital on the European Side in Istanbul between 1 st of February and 1 st of may who participated willingly(n=40). The participants are 72.5% women and 27.5% are men with a total of 40 family members. Adult Psychological Durability test and family information questionarie was applied and the Results were obtained by processing the infomations obtained from questionaires using SPSS for windows 22.0 pakage program. 6 parameters were taken into account in the quesionaires those include temperament, future perception, family consistency, self perception, social competence, social resources. Meaningful results were obtained by the following parameters: educational status, status of relationship with the patient, status of chronic disease, marital status. In accordance with the results obtained from the forementioned parameters hospital admittance of patients were found to badly affect the family dynamic and produced a perception of distance in the relations between the patient and his family memebers. Therefore, the psychiatric nurse, who is thought to be in the closest contact with the patient among the health professionals, has taken into consideration all the interventions and approaches that should be planned by considering how the family is affected by this hospitalization process in the process of preparing the patients for discharge from the first day of hospitalization. Has the role of consultant. In this study, the importance of the "counseling" role of the psychiatric nurse on the psychological durability of the relatives of the patients was understood.
