In the group with nasal polyposis, the influenza B virus was identified in one of the patients and the human coronavirus in another. Conclusion: The results did not demonstrate a statistically significant relationship between nasal polyposis and respiratory viruses.Publication Metadata only The effect of ER YAG laser treatment on mıcrotensıle bond strength of carıes affected dentın ın vıtro preelımınary study(2014-04-27) GÜÇLÜ, ZEYNEP ASLI; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYE; TÜZÜNER, TAMER; BARIŞ, KARABULUT; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYEPublication Open Access Vaspin and lipocalin-2 levels in severe obsructive sleep apnea.(2014-06-01) KıSKAÇ, MUHARREM; ZORLU, MEHMET; AKKOYUNLU, MUHAMMED EMİN; KILIC, ERDEM; CAKIRCA, MUSTAFA; Karatoprak, CUMALİ; YAVUZ, E; ARDIC, C; CAMLI, AHMET ADİL; CIKRIKCIOGLU, M; KART, L; KISKAÇ, MUHARREM; ZORLU, MEHMET; AKKOYUNLU, MUHAMMED EMİN; KILIÇ, ERDEM; KARATOPRAK, CUMALİ; ÇAKIRCA, MUSTAFA; ÇAMLI, AHMET ADİLBackground: Vaspin and lipocalin-2 are less-known recent members of adipocytokine family. There are ongoing studies investigating the role of vaspin ve lipocalin-2 in metabolic syndrome (MS). Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is independently associated with an increased prevalence of MS. We aimed to measure the levels of vaspin and lipocalin-2 which are secreted from adipocytes in patients with severe OSAS and examine the relationship between these two adipocytokines and OSAS. Methods: The study consisted of two groups: severe OSAS patients with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of >30/h (OSAS group, 34 subjects) and age-matched healthy volunteers with a AHI <5/h (control group, 25 subjects) Serum levels of vaspin and lipocalin-2 in these two groups were compared. Results: Serum levels of vaspin were significantly lower in OSAS group; patients with severe OSAS compared with control group; healthy volunteers (OSAS group: 0.69±0.5 vs. control group: 1.24±1.13; P=0.034). The difference between the two groups in terms of serum levels of lipocalin-2 has not reached statistical significance (OSAS group: 61.6±18.2 vs. control group: 68.5±20.1; P=0.17). Conclusions: We found that serum vaspin levels were significantly lower in patients with severe OSAS compared with healthy controls. Lipocalin-2 levels were similar. The decrease in serum vaspin levels in severe OSAS patients may be important in diagnosis and follow-up of these patients.Publication Metadata only Microleakage of Hydrophilic Sealant After Different Enamel Etching Tecniques(2014-06-08) GÜÇLÜ, ZEYNEP ASLI; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYE; TÜZÜNER, TAMER; ODABAŞ, MESUT ENES; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYEPublication Metadata only Cep Telefonlarının Yaydığı 900Mhz Işınların Mine Mikro-Sertliğine Etkisi: Pilot Çalışma.(2014-09-01) YAVUZ, İZZET; DAŞDAĞ, SÜLEYMAN; BAKKAL, MELTEM; KARGÜL, BETÜL; BAKKAL, MELTEMPublication Metadata only Çürük risk gruplarının belirlenmesinde beslenme alışkanlıklarının ve diyet kayıt analizlerinin rolü(2014-09-01) DEMİRTAŞ, NİHAT; DOĞAN, HATİCE FERDA; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYE; DÖNMEZ, NAZMİYEPublication Metadata only SEM-EDX analysis of brushing abrasion of chitosan and propolis based toothpastes on sound and artificial carious primary enamel surfaces(2014-09-01) Ozalp, Serife; Tulunoglu, Ozlem; ÖZDEMİR, ŞERİFEPurpose. Nilgun; Ozel, Faruk; KARA, ÖZLEMThis study investigated the influence of surface conditioning procedures and repeated firings on monoclinic content and strength of zirconia before cementation. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sintered barshaped zirconia specimens were subjected to no surface treatment (control), air abrasion, or grinding (n=21). Their roughness was evaluated using a profilometer, and microscope analysis was performed on one specimen of each group. Then, 2 or 10 repeated firings (n=10) were executed, the monoclinic content of specimens was analyzed by X-ray diffraction, and a three-point flexural strength test was performed. Surface roughness values were compared using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey honestly significant difference (HSD) tests, the monoclinic content values were tested using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests, and the flexural strength values were tested using two-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests (P=.05). Spearman’s correlation test was performed to define relationships among measured parameters. RESULTS. Surface-treated specimens were rougher than untreated specimens and had a higher monoclinic content (P<.005), and the relationship between roughness and monoclinic content was significant (P<.000). Neither surface treatment nor firing significantly affected the flexural strength, but Weibull analysis showed that for the air-abraded samples the characteristic strength was significantly lower after the 10th firing than after the 2nd firing. CONCLUSION. After firing, a negligible amount of monoclinic content remained on the zirconia surfaces, and rougher surfaces had higher monoclinic contents than untreated surfaces. Multiple firings could be performed if necessary, but the fracture probability could increase after multiple firings for rougher surfacesPublication Metadata only Are dentin posts biomechanically intensive?: A laboratory and FEA study(2014-12-17) Belli, Sema; Celik, Kezban; Akbulut, Makbule Bilge; Guneser, MEHMET BURAK; Eraslan, Oguz; Eskitaccioglu, Gurcan; GÜNEŞER, MEHMET BURAKThe goal of this laboratory and finite elemental stress analysis (FEA) study was to compare fracture strength of dentin post (DP) with stainless steel and glass fiber posts. Single-rooted teeth were decoronated and restored with ParaPost (PP), i-TFC (TFC), and DPs (n=10). Resin cores were created and loaded until failure (1.0mm/min). The data were analyzed (ANOVA, Tukey, Chi-Square tests). Three-dimensional FEA models of the posts were created and the stress distributions were calculated using Solid Works/Cosmos works structural analysis program. A significant difference was found among the groups (p<0.001). TFC group showed the highest and the DP group showed the lowest fracture resistance (p<0.001). PP created more stress at the root dentin and inside the post. Restoration of roots with glass fiber and DPs may reduce stresses within the core material and the remaining root. However, a fracture-resistant restoration cannot be achieved by using a DP.Publication Metadata only Thymoquinone treatment for inner-ear acoustic trauma in rats(2015-01-01) AKSOY, FEYZA MÜBERRA; DOGAN, REMZİ; VEYSELLER, B.; Ozturan, ORHAN; OZTURK, B.; AKSOY, FADLULLAH; DOĞAN, REMZI; YENİGÜN, ALPER; ÖZTURAN, ORHANObjective: To investigate whether thymoquinone has any eliminative effects against inner-ear damage caused by acoustic trauma.Publication Metadata only Tissue Dissolution Effect of Octenidine Hydrochloride in Comparison with Conventional Irrigation Solutions(2015-01-01) GÜNEŞER, MEHMET BURAK; AKBULUT, MAKBULE BİLGE; ÜNVERDİ ELDENİZ, AYÇE; GÜNEŞER, MEHMET BURAK
